If you’re looking some nail inspo, here are some of my favorite nails that I’ve ever done for the Lunar New Year:
Year of the Snake (2025):
I got this set done in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia so I had a bit more budget to go all out with many designs. In total, it was 170 MYR, or about $42 USD. I love how they turned out! Plus, they match the new qipao top I bought for the festivities.

Year of the Dragon (2024):
This set was inspired by jade, especially since green is a lucky color. I did this with regular nail polish, so it chipped fairly quickly. It was my first time doing green (instead of red) for LNY, so it was a refreshing change and matched a green qipao dress I had.

Year of the Rabbit (2023):
LNY coincided with Valentine’s Day, so this set had to do both. I wasn’t sure that the nail tech from my local commercial salon could do a rabbit, so we kept the design more simple. I think it looked good, and at least there was some red for CNY!

Year of the Tiger (2022):
I got these done at a salon I found in Bratislava, Slovakia. The nail tech was very attentive and very carefully painted on the tiger stripes. This was my first time celebrating CNY away from my family, so it was nice to have a reminder of the festivities on my nails!

Year of the Ox (2021):
This LNY also coincided with Valentine’s Day, so the red and gold glitter elements are pretty interchangeable. Also, cow print is pretty similar to the ox, and much cuter in my opinion.

I love matching my nails to upcoming holidays… should I come back next year to post what I do for Year of the Horse?
